Artist Statement: From the 2011 series "Modern Love: Intercess + Wait,", this painting titled "Winged Figure".

Bio: Mel Ahlborn is a classically trained fine artist, manuscript illuminator and gilder. Her workshop, Illumination Studio, is based in the San Francisco Bay area. From 2000 to 2009 Mel served in a variety of positions within ECVA, helping to grow ECVA from its first, 12-entry exhibition into the vibrant arts platform it is today.

Mel produced the 2009 Visual Preludes, liasing with the Worship Committee of The General Convention of The Episcopal Church to provide multimedia liturgical art for the triennial worship services. Her book, Visio Divina - A Reader in Faith and The Visual Arts, with Kenneth Arnold, is published by Leader Resources. Visit Mel Ahlborn online at Illumination Studio.
