| Hope in a Fog Photograph |
Artist Statement: “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it,” (John 1:5). I had understood light pierced holes in the empty darkness, but obstacles not pierced by the light could cause long dark shadows. While looking for an image to encourage someone living with cancer, these trees showed me that the light of Christ is light that goes around obstacles, particularly when life seems bogged down by fog. Trees gave a fresh way to understand Jesus calling us, “The light of the world,” (Matthew 5:14 and John 8:12). |
