Revealing His Light

Artist Statement: Contemplative Process: Wandering alone through the abandoned 14th-15th century Byzantine city of Mystras, Greece, I discovered behind the well preserved facades of many churches, the crumbling plaster once covered in icons.

Though the space was damaged, the light still drew you to the altar and pointed to the remaining deep blue of the heavens above on the apse ceiling. I made this photo because it was a place where the very absence of what had been and the ever present light still drew you to the Holy Presence.
